Experience

Provided permitting and regulatory services to hundreds of wind and solar energy projects in 41 States, in Canada and internationally.

Developed innovative bat acoustic monitoring technology to determine potential bat activity in the vicinity of solar and wind farms, as well as a smart curtailment system to curtail wind turbines if certain bat species are detected.

Designed and implemented cutting-edge remote survey methods to allow for surveys of abundance and distribution of marine wildlife to be conducted efficiently and effectively.

Conducted site-feasibility surveys to support wind and solar projects including critical issues or “fatal flaw” analysis.

Conducted NEPA analysis and assessments for biological resources (wetlands, submerged aquatic vegetation, birds, bats, fish, benthos, marine mammals, and turtles) located in areas of proposed turbines and transmission cables, and biological assessments of threatened and endangered species for Section 7 consultation.

Senior regulatory specialists include a former EPA Region Administrator and two former US Army Corps of Engineers District Commanders, experienced in successfully navigating complex state and federal permit processes.

Capabilities

Our highly qualified scientists have worked together for longer than 25 years, providing high-caliber technical capabilities.

Specialized technical expertise for offshore wind developments including extensive experience with remote sensing using high-resolution aerial photography and photointerpretation essential for projects in remote areas or with limited access.

Extensive in-house staff expertise with rare, threatened and endangered species including terrestrial, marine and freshwater species.

Survey and mapping specialists with thousands of miles of transmission line and other linear project experience.

Expert witnesses and peer reviewers for utility companies, and public and private developers.
