Normandeau Presenting Offshore Wind Poster at Windpower 2010 Conference

Bedford, NH — Monday, March 29, 2010 — Normandeau Associates will be well represented and active at the upcoming AWEA Windpower 2010 Annual Conference to take place in Dallas, Texas May 23 – May 26.

Ms. Ann Pembroke, Vice President Marine Services, will be presenting "Effects of Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) from Transmission Lines on Elasmobranchs and Other Species" and will be available for discussion during the poster presentation and at the Normandeau exhibit booth (# 506) during exhibit hours. The poster will be on display for the duration of the conference. (www.windpowerexpo.org)

The purpose of the poster is to present the potential environmental effects from electromagnetic fields (EMF) from submarine transmission cables to marine species in the marine environment; the importance of understanding the magnitude of EMFs to characterize the intensity and spatial extent of exposure; which marine organisms are capable of sensing electric or magnetic fields; thresholds for specific responses; and life history and behavior of EMF-sensitive species to determine if exposure above the threshold is likely.
