Shaheen Speaks at NEWEA Congressional Event | Bedford, NH — Tuesday, March 23, 2010 — U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) was the featured speaker at the New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA) Annual Congressional Breakfast on March 16, 2010 in Washington D.C. Senator Shaheen, a former three-term Governor of New Hampshire, is the nation's first woman to be elected a Governor and a U.S. Senator. She currently serves on the U.S. Senate's Energy and Natural Resources Committee, as well as the Committees on Foreign Relations and Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Introduced at the event by Normandeau Senior Vice President Bob Varney, who served in her Cabinet while she was Governor, Senator Shaheen expressed strong support for the Clean Water Act and funding for municipal wastewater collection and treatment systems.
