Normandeau Associates Assists FEMA with Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita Relief Efforts

Bedford, NH. March 1, 2006 – Engineers, scientists, and accountants from Normandeau Associates, Inc. (www.normandeau.com) are contributing to FEMA’s hurricane disaster response efforts in the Gulf region. Normandeau is part of the Emergency Response Program Management Consultants Team, a consortium of engineering and consulting firms that responds to FEMA needs during disasters. Normandeau employees have seen first-hand the devastation and turmoil that has impacted the Gulf since last fall.

Although Normandeau was previously involved in environmental assessment and NEPA evaluations, during recent deployments employees have provided project management and logistical support.

Richard Masters, P.E. has returned from a 5-month deployment in Louisiana where he was responsible for managing a team of eight Project Officers in assessing damages from the storm and preparing federal grant applications. Rich oversaw the assessment and obligation of funds for some 240 projects, dispersing over $18 million in federal funds to 62 municipalities.

Beverly Berberich, Contract Administrator for Normandeau, recently returned from a 5-week deployment in Arkansas where she compiled cost data for sheltering activities. This was Ms. Berberich’s fourth deployment.

Jennifer West, Wetland Scientist for Normandeau, is currently on a 4-month deployment as Project Officer of a team that is responsible for assessing damages to schools southeast of New Orleans in preparation of reconstruction.

Normandeau is proud of its participation in this historic rebuilding project. This is not the first time Normandeau employees have participated in FEMA disaster relief efforts. Normandeau staff members traveled to North Carolina after the devastation of Hurricane Floyd in the late 1990s. Flooding along the Red River in North Dakota found Normandeau team members assisting with relief efforts. Heavy snowfalls in Colorado and New England allowed Normandeau the opportunity to assist FEMA with relief efforts.
